Wi-Fi Installation & Dead Spot Fixes
Wi-Fi that works in every room — properly surveyed, properly installed, properly tested by a local Wi-Fi engineer at your door — not a helpline reading a script. We fix dead spots, buffering and dropouts in homes across Bradford, Leeds and West Yorkshire, including the stone-walled houses everyone else gives up on.
Sound familiar?
Dead spot upstairs
Full signal in the lounge, nothing in the back bedroom. The router is fine — it just cannot reach. We add coverage where the house needs it.
Buffering telly
Netflix spinning, iPlayer stuttering. Usually congestion or a weak link between the router and the TV — both fixable in a visit.
Video calls dropping
Working from home and freezing mid-meeting. We find whether it is interference, channel congestion or the router itself, and fix the actual cause.
Garden office with no signal
Cabins and garden offices need a proper link — point-to-point wireless or a buried cable, not a plug-in repeater that halves your speed.
New house, patchy Wi-Fi
Just moved in and the previous setup does not suit how you live? A one-hour survey maps what the house actually needs.
Extender graveyard
A drawer full of boosters that never worked? Cheap repeaters usually make things worse. Proper mesh, placed properly, is a different world.
Internet died after the “digital landline” switch
The copper phone network is being switched off and the new setup runs through your router. If it was not set up properly, phone and broadband both fall over. One visit puts it right — and we check any care alarm that depends on the line.
Why Yorkshire homes beat ordinary Wi-Fi
Whether you need a full installation or just some honest home Wi-Fi help, the visit starts the same way: a Wi-Fi technician measuring the signal room by room, finding what is actually wrong before anything gets recommended.
The stone our houses are built from is the problem — and the pride. Victorian terraces in Saltaire, weavers' cottages in Haworth, stone semis in Ilkley and Otley: walls a foot thick that a single router in the hallway simply cannot penetrate. The answer is never a stronger router shouting louder from one spot; it is several quieter points placed around the walls — a mesh system or wired access points — so every room has a strong signal nearby. That is precisely what we design and install.
Newer builds have the opposite problem: foil-backed plasterboard that bounces signal around, and thirty devices — phones, doorbells, TVs, consoles, thermostats — fighting for one channel. Different cause, same result, same fix: a survey first, then the right kit in the right places.
How a Wi-Fi visit works
- Survey — we walk every room with signal-measuring tools and map exactly where and why your Wi-Fi fails.
- Fix what is free first — router placement, channels and settings often recover a lot before any kit is bought.
- Install what is needed — mesh points or wired access points, positioned from the survey, not guesswork. You approve any kit cost before we order it.
- Test on your devices — we check every room on your own phone, laptop and telly, not ours, before we call it done.
Call-out including the first full hour — which covers the survey and most straightforward fixes. Any equipment is quoted and agreed before we order it, typically £80–£250 for a mesh system depending on the size of the house. Remote help from £45 for up to 30 minutes if the problem might not need a visit.
Wi-Fi for holiday lets and Airbnbs
If you run a holiday cottage in Haworth, an apartment in Saltaire or a let anywhere along the Dales corridor, you already know the truth: guest Wi-Fi is not a nicety, it is in every review you get. One weekend of buffering and it is written up for the next hundred bookings to read — and most holiday lets round here are exactly the thick-walled stone buildings ordinary routers cannot cope with.
We set lets up properly: a survey of the building, mesh or wired points that actually reach every bedroom, and a separate guest network so visitors never touch your own devices, cameras or smart locks. We finish with a printed card for the welcome book — network name and a QR code — so guests connect in seconds and never have to message you asking for the password. If something does play up mid-stay, we can usually look at it remotely the same day rather than you driving over.
One visit, one sensible bill, and the Wi-Fi line in your reviews goes quiet — which is exactly how you want it.
Recent Wi-Fi jobs from the diary
- August — Weekend call-out in Eldwick: home internet sorted and the signal measurably improved, tested on the family’s own devices before we left.
- July — Pudsey bungalow: two years of solid-wall dead spots ended with properly placed mesh points. Up and running with no issues since.
- July — Menston: dropping Wi-Fi sorted in a single visit, running faster than ever by the time we packed up.
Wi-Fi installation across West Yorkshire
Common questions about Wi-Fi installation
Do I need a new broadband contract to fix my Wi-Fi?
Almost never. Slow Wi-Fi and dead spots are usually a coverage problem inside the house, not a broadband problem — the right mesh system or access point placement fixes it on the connection you already have. If your line genuinely is the issue, we will tell you straight.
What does a Wi-Fi installation visit involve?
We walk the house with proper signal tools, find exactly where and why the Wi-Fi dies, then fix it — repositioning the router, adding mesh points or a wired access point, and tidying the settings. Every room is tested on your own devices before we leave.
Can you fix Wi-Fi in old stone houses?
Yes — it is our speciality. West Yorkshire's stone terraces and cottages have walls a single router cannot get through. The answer is placing multiple points around the walls rather than trying to blast through them, and we do it week in, week out from Haworth to Headingley.
How much does Wi-Fi installation cost?
The £95 call-out includes the first full hour, which covers the survey and most straightforward fixes. If you need mesh kit, we tell you the exact cost before anything is ordered — typically £80–£250 depending on the size of the house — and we only recommend what the survey shows you actually need.
Do you set up Wi-Fi for holiday lets and Airbnbs?
Yes — it is a growing part of our work in Haworth, Saltaire, Skipton and the villages between. We survey the building, install coverage that reaches every room, set up a separate guest network, and leave you a printed QR card for the welcome book so guests connect without asking. Ask about it when you ring.
Do you cover my town?
We install and fix Wi-Fi across Bradford, Bingley, Shipley, Baildon, Keighley, Ilkley, Otley, Guiseley, Horsforth, Pudsey, Halifax, Huddersfield, Skipton, north Leeds and the villages between. Check your postcode on our coverage page or just ring us.
Do I need a Wi-Fi engineer, or should my broadband provider fix it?
Your provider is responsible for the line up to the router — and their help usually stops there. Everything past the router, which is where most problems live, is what a local Wi-Fi engineer sorts: signal through the walls, dead rooms, mesh done properly, every room tested before we leave.
“After weeks of declining connectivity in my home, and failing to find a Company or individual who seemed to focus on this type of problem, I came across Mick’s Website… Mick turned up promptly the next day and was easy to talk to and explained everything in plain English, rather than in tec speak. The issues were not straightforward, but Mick wasn’t going to be beaten and managed to resolve the problems… the technology in my home is now working as it should. His prices are very reasonable and I would highly recommend him for all of your technology issues.”

“Mick at Home Tech Guys came out to us in Menston to sort a WiFi issue. All sorted, running faster than ever. Highly recommend. Cheers guys.”

“After 2 years of struggling with our Internet, due to the solid walls in our bungalow, we had come to the end of our tether! After a short phone call Mick arranged to call to our home and within the hour of the visit he had worked out a solution to our problem. Mick came back within a couple of days, fitted devices and everything is now up and running with no issues. Mick could not have been a nicer guy, many thanks!”
